I recently spent some time searching the web for details on how to start or stop the oracle 9i listener running on a Linux server. Well the answer is "lsnrctl" which resides in $ORACLE_HOME/bin. You simply start the program then specify "start" or "stop". It is also possible to specify the service or SID which you wish to start or stop.
